CLEVELAND — Mike Golic is coming home.
On Wednesday, the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission announced that to ESPN Radio co-host will serve as the host of the 20th Greater Cleveland Sports Awards on Jan. 22, 2020. A native of Willowick, Golic spent his high school career at Cleveland’s St. Joseph’s High School, where he was inducted into the school inaugural Hall of Champions in 2015.
Despite going on to star at Notre Dame before enjoying an eight-year NFL career that included time with the Houston Oilers, Philadelphia Eagles and Miami Dolphins, Golic is best known for his broadcasting career. Over the last 20 years, the former defensive lineman has been a constant on national radio airwaves, beginning with the 2000 launch of ESPN’s “Mike & Mike,” which he co-hosted with Mike Greenberg.
Following an 18-year run with Greenberg that resulted in several awards, a New York Times Best Selling book and an induction into the National Association of Broadcasters Broadcasting Hall of Fame, Golic began co-hosting a new show, “Golic and Wingo,” alongside Trey Wingo and his son, Mike Golic Jr.

A vocal Cleveland sports fan, Golic has often returned to Northeast Ohio for broadcasts from the sites of some of the city’s most prominent games. In January, he’ll lend his voice to what’s considered the premier annual sports fundraiser that supports Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, which celebrates the city’s professional, collegiate and high school sports achievements.
Tickets and tables for January’s event are available at clevelandsportsawards.com.
