CLEVELAND — According to the latest betting odds, the Cleveland Browns aren’t the favorite to sign Colin Kaepernick this weekend — far from it.
But if Kaepernick does sign with a team following his NFL-organized workout this weekend, it appears likely the Browns won’t have to wait long to see the former San Francisco 49ers signal-caller.
Days before Kaepernick is scheduled to take a practice field in Atlanta, Sportsbetting.ag released odds for which team will sign the polarizing passer. And while Cleveland possesses the fourth-lowest odds at +2500, its three AFC North rivals top the list with the Cincinnati Bengals favored at +350, followed by the Pittsburgh Steelers (+400) and the Baltimore Ravens (+600).
For the gambling uninitiated, a successful $100 wager on the Bengals would return a $350 profit, while a successful $100 bet on the Browns would net $2,500.

While one could argue that Cleveland is in need of upgrading its backup quarterback behind Baker Mayfield with Drew Stanton out for the season with a knee injury, it would seem unlikely the Browns would turn to Kaepernick to fill that role given the media attention his signing would bring. After enjoying a productive six-season career with the San Francisco 49ers, who he led to an appearance in Super Bowl XLVII, the dual-threat signal-caller has remained unsigned since the end of the 2016 season, during which he began controversially kneeling during the national anthem in an effort to bring awareness to racial inequality and racially motivated crimes.
Earlier this year, the NFL and Kaepernick reached a confidential settlement filed by the quarterback that alleged the league’s owners colluded against his signing. In six seasons with the 49ers, the former second-round pick completed 59.8 percent of his passes for 12,271 yards, 72 touchdowns and 30 interceptions and rushed for 2,300 yards and 13 scores.
