CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Browns bid farewell to 2019 with a 6-10 record. The team also bid farewell to head coach Freddie Kitchens, who was relieved of his duties following Sunday’s 33-23 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.

Mike Polk Jr. says that it’s sad to see Kitchens go, but notes that being a nice guy doesn’t make someone a good head coach.

“Being nice isn’t enough,” Polk says.

Having a close relationship with quarterback Baker Mayfield also wasn’t enough.

“It was like a wedding invitation I got from two people who are friends of mine but who I know should not be marrying, for it wouldn’t last,” Polk says.

What should the Browns do next?

“I want a grizzled old coach with a lot of experience, who knows how to handle a bunch of nonsense,” Polk says.
