CLEVELAND — In light of concerns regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19), the Greater Cleveland Food Bank has asked for help.
The Cleveland Browns are doing their best to answer.
One day after Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield and his wife, Emily, donated a matching donation of $50,000, Cleveland defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi took to Twitter to share that he has donated 100,000 meals. In a video announcing his donation, Ogunjobi said he was inspired to do so by the children who may be missing meals with K-12 schools closed for at least three weeks — and likely longer.
“Many of these kids, due to the school closings, will no longer get the meals that they depend on day to day,” Ogunjobi said. “In order to help combat this, I’m partnering with the Greater Cleveland Food Bank and will be donating 100,000 meals.”
Ogunjobi encouraged others to join him in making donations to the food bank. Those interested can do so by visiting the Greater Cleveland Food Bank’s website.
