The 31-year-old was recently released by the Baltimore Ravens after fight with teammate Chuck Clark.

CLEVELAND — The Browns may very well be in play to land All-Pro safety Earl Thomas, according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.

It certainly makes sense.

Thomas, 31, was recently released by the Baltimore Ravens following a fight at practice between Chuck Clark and Thomas. Meanwhile, the Browns have a laundry list of injuries in their defensive backfield including Grant Delpit, Greedy Williams, Terrance Mitchell, and Kevin Johnson.

Schefter hinted at the idea recently on ESPN’s SportsCenter and then followed that up on Twitter, noting that the rookie Delpit is out for the year with a ruptured Achilles tendon.

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski was asked about adding to a banged up defensive backfield, specifically Thomas, to which the first-year coach said, “I would leave that in Andrew’s [Berry] court.”

Thomas spent most of his career with the Seattle Seahawks, helping anchor the famed “Legion of Boom” defense that won Super Bowl XLVIII. He spent the 2019 season with the Ravens and made his seventh career Pro Bowl before being unceremoniously released this week.

Ironically, the Browns will open the NFL regular season in Baltimore against the Ravens on Sept. 13.
