WKYC: Browns QB Deshaun Watson 11-game suspension: Social media reacts

Deshaun Watson’s first game in a Cleveland Browns uniform will come against Watson’s former team, the Houston Texans.

CLEVELAND — The decision is in.

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson learned his fate for the upcoming 2022-23 NFL season on Thursday — and reaction from social media came in fast (see below).

Watson will serve an 11-game suspension and pay a $5 million fine after violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. Ultimately, Watson and the NFL came to a settlement after the NFL appealed former US District Judge Sue Robinson’s ruling of a six-game suspension.

Watson and his agent ultimately played the Browns. If they thought he’d be out 11 games, he wouldn’t have got all that guaranteed money or cost that many picks.

Yet 11 games isn’t enough considering the scope of Watson’s problem. Absolutely no one around him – from his employers to his agent to his media enablers – have been concerned about Watson fixing his problem. They just lied and passed along lies to get their money.

In their rush to trade for an elite player, the Browns failed their vetting process of Watson, believed his lies and not only trusted him, but gave him $230M. And if he wins, many there might say it was worth it. It’s disgusting.
