Bojorquez averaged 46.8 yards on four punts, downing two inside the 5 yard line and booming a 64-yarder.
CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Browns haven’t had a lot to play for since their postseason hopes officially went up in flames a few weeks ago outside of impressive individual performances and ending the season on a rare positive note.
On Wednesday afternoon, a Browns player was honored for the former as punter Corey Bojorquez named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.
Bojorquez came through when the Browns needed him the most in their win against the Washington Commanders averaging 46.8 yards on four punts. Two of his punts were downed inside the five yard line. He also boomed a 64-yarder to help Cleveland put continual pressure on Commanders QB Carson Wentz who struggled with bad field position and a swarming Browns defense.
Bojorquez is in his fifth year in the NFL previously spending his first three years with the Buffalo Bills before holding the punting duties last year in Green Bay.
He currently grades out as the fourth best punter according to Pro Football Focus (PFF). Bojorquez has a team option for next year for $1.63 million.
For now, all signs point to Bjorquez being back with the Browns next year. With a team friendly salary, friendly analytics ratings and a salary cap situation that will get tighter for the team to navigate.
