Cleveland city officials say traffic will be impacted for Sunday’s Browns game at Huntington Bank Field, but detours are in place.
CLEVELAND — Crews from the city of Cleveland are continuing work to repair a sinkhole that has closed a portion of East 9th Street north of State Route 2 downtown. The repair work will impact traffic for Sunday’s Cleveland Browns vs. Miami Dolphins game at Huntington Bank Field.
The city first announced on Thursday that East 9th Street between SR 2 and North Marginal is closed for road repairs. Traffic on SR 2 is being routed to West 3rd Street, then to North Marginal. The west side sidewalk on East 9th Street remains open.
So what can Browns fans expect for traffic on Sunday?
A city spokesperson told 3News that while traffic for the game will be impacted, there are detours in place to ensure that fans can get where they need to go safely.
Here’s how the city is planning to manage the traffic in the area this weekend:
- The southbound lanes of East 9th Street between SR 2 and North Marginal will be open, along with one northbound lane. The curb lane and 2nd lane will remain closed.
- North Marginal Road will close between Coast Guard Drive and East 9th Street in both directions.
- The city also says that the sidewalk along the entire east side of East 9th will be barricaded off to approximately 75 feet north of North Marginal. However, there will be pedestrian access on the south side of the Marginal roadway for the Browns game.
Crews are also working to determine what caused the sinkhole.
