CLEVELAND — Myles Garrett, the Cleveland Browns‘ star defensive end, has continued solidifying his legacy as one of the NFL’s elite defenders.

On Thursday, Garrett was officially named a finalist for the prestigious Associated Press (AP) NFL Defensive Player of the Year award, recognizing his dominant performance during the 2024 season despite the team’s 3-14 record.

Garrett finished the season with 47 total tackles, including 40 solo and 7 assists. He recorded 14 sacks, ranking second in the NFL, and forced 3 fumbles, placing him among the league’s top defenders.

On Dec. 15, 2024, Garrett became the first player in history to record 100 career sacks while wearing a Cleveland uniform, as well as the youngest player in NFL history with 100 sacks.

Previously, Garrett was named to the 2024-25 NFLPA Players’ All-Pro Team for the third consecutive year. In January, he also earned First-Team All-Pro honors for the fourth time.

The NFL Defensive Player of the Year finalists for the 2024 season include Garrett, Zack Baun of the New Orleans Saints, Trey Hendrickson of the Cincinnati Bengals, Patrick Surtain II of the Denver Broncos and T.J. Watt of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In 2023, Garrett captured the AP’s NFL Defensive Player of the Year award. His dominant season featured 14 sacks and 4 forced fumbles.

The winner will be announced on Thursday, Feb. 6, during the NFL Honors.
