On the ensuing possession, Browns quarterback Jacoby Brissett rushed for two yards before running back Nick Chubb ran for a five-yard gain. On third-and-three from Carolina’s 35-yard line, Brissett then threw a deep pass to wide receiver Amari Cooper, who was interfered with by Panthers cornerback C.J. Henderson in the end zone.
The penalty gave Cleveland the ball at Carolina’s 1-yard line, with Brissett finding running back Kareem Hunt — who initially lined up at fullback on the play — for a touchdown pass to give the Browns their first score of the season as they took a 7-0 lead over the Panthers following a Cade York extra point.
