With Cleveland currently sitting at 3-5, this game is crucial if they want to stay in the division race.
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — At the end of the first half from Hard Rock Stadium, the Browns trail the Miami Dolphins by a score of 10-7.
Here are 3 observations from the first 30 minutes of play:
Running game nonexistent
While normally the ultimate strength, Cleveland’s rushing attack has been shut down so far, with only 30 combined yards on 14 carries. Nick Chubb, in particular, has been off, tallying only 16 yards while also committing a rare fumble that eventually led to a Miami field goal.
Brissett solid again
As his time as the Browns’ starting quarterback winds down, Jacoby Brissett continues to hold his own, completing 11-of-14 passes for 115 yards and a touchdown. His passer rating stands at 124.7, and if it stays that way it would mark his third straight game of a rating of at least 100.
Defense hit or miss
After back-to-back good outings, Cleveland’s D has come up with some big plays on this Sunday, notably a fourth-down stop with about five minutes left in the half.
But overall, the Dolphins are shredding the Browns for 235 yards overall and 7.3 yards per play. Tua Tagovailoa has completed 14-of-17 passes for 154 yards and two scores, with an near-perfect rating of 143.6. Jeff Wilson Jr. has also run for 62 yards on eight carries, and the team hasn’t punted once.
Granted, the Dolphins have one of the best offenses in football, but you would expect the Browns to look a little better than this.
