
Browns DE Myles Garrett, Cavaliers shooting guard Donovan Mitchell and Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor are nominated for Professional Athlete of the Year.
CLEVELAND — With the event less than two weeks away, the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission has announced its nominees for the 2024 Greater Cleveland Sports Awards, which will be held at Cleveland’s Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on Tuesday, Jan. 23.
This year, fans will have the opportunity to cast their votes to help determine a winner in each category. Voting is open HERE until Monday, Jan. 15, at 5 p.m.
The nominees for this year’s event, which will be hosted by ESPN’s Holly Rowe, are as follows:
Male High School Athlete of the Year
- Marquise Davis, Cleveland Heights High School, Football
- Bo Jackson, Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School, Football
- Dorian Jones, Richmond Heights High School, Basketball
Female High School Athlete of the Year
- Sophia Sindelar, Rocky River High School, Soccer
- Brecksville-Broadview Heights Gymnastics Team
- Tessa Knapp, Bay Village High School, Soccer
Male Collegiate Athlete of the Year
- Lyle Yost, Ohio State University, Diving (Shaker Heights High School)
- Case Western Reserve University Men’s Tennis Team
- Joe Whitman, Kent State University, Baseball (Hudson High School)
Female Collegiate Athlete of the Year
- Destiny Leo, Cleveland State University, Basketball (Eastlake North High School)
- Taylor Mikesell, Ohio State University, Basketball (Massillon Jackson High School)
- Annie Roshak, Ashland University, Basketball (North Canton Hoover High School)
Professional Athlete of the Year
- Myles Garrett, Cleveland Browns, Defensive End
- Donovan Mitchell, Cleveland Cavaliers, Shooting Guard
- Josh Naylor, Cleveland Guardians, First Baseman

The winners of this year’s awards will be announced at the show on Jan. 23, which serves as “the premier annual sports fundraiser supporting Greater Cleveland Sports Commission and celebrates a year of athletic achievements in Northeast Ohio from high school stars to professional athletes.”
