NEW ORLEANS — Just days after he formally requested a trade from the Cleveland Browns, All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett has revealed more information on his thought process that led him to that decision.
While speaking to The Rich Eisen Show at the NFL’s Radio Row in New Orleans on Wednesday, Garrett said he spoke with former Cleveland Cavaliers great LeBron James about his thought process and James’ prior experience leaving Cleveland.
When Eisen asked what kind of conversation he had with LeBron, Garrett said, “Just what a transition looked like for him, what his thought process was going into it before he left Cleveland. Just making sure I made a logical decision taking my time… I know Cleveland, really that area Northeast Ohio, has been his home and it feels like my home as well.”
During the interview, Garrett reiterated his stance on “winning championships” as his primary focus and that he and the Browns organization are not “on the same page” about the short-term competitive outlook of the team.
Garrett also revealed that he came to the decision after taking time away from football and speaking with his family and agent following the Browns’ disastrous 2024-25 regular season.
